Musicians use this platform to earn income outside the traditional music industry.
It also helps venues, studios, audio hardware/software manufacturers, and retailers. Later, it will also help all other art types.
We use our own custom royalty system that operates outside the current music industry.
What a song stream on our platform is worth each month is variable, and based on the amount of ticket and advertising sales on our platform throughout the month.
The more tickets bought and sold each month, the more musicians will make per song stream at the end of that month, and there will never be a cap on how much musicians can make per song stream each month. We take what we need from the monthly pool to run and expand this website for the benefit of art and humanity, and the rest is pushed back to the musicians who use this site. Check the Finance, How It Works, and the Documentation sections for exact details on how we pay musicians each month for their song streams.
Please buy and sell your live music tickets here from now on so the musicians using this platform can make more per song stream each month.
In return, streaming all music here is free, unlimited, and uninterrupted. Subscribe to bands, make unlimited playlists with their tunes, and listen as much as you want for free.
Venues/promoters who sign up can easily find and hire bands for their gigs (if needed), and sell tickets without needing to pay for promotion, as promotion is a core component of our system. Bands can easily plan out their cross-country tours using the Map to find gigs still looking for bands to join the gig roster. Fans can easily find and buy tickets for any and all gigs across Canada (and later worldwide as we expand on a country-by-country basis). Musicians get paid for their song streams at the end of each month based on the ticket and advertising sales on this platform that month. Fans listen to all songs uploaded here for free, without interruption.
Everybody wins.
More details on platform operations:
This platform is free for all to use. Only pay for live-music show tickets and to advertise.
Anybody (even you) can sell tickets to their own live-music shows here, without any fees or deductions, with a 'Host' account. If you run events, you can make your Host account after signing up as a Fan (user account). All additional accounts link with your Fan account (Musician, Band, Host (venues/promoters), Studio, Audio Software/Hardware Manufacturer/Retailer, and VideoService (music video makers)).
We apply a Ticket Surcharge to each ticket sold by Hosts (paid for by the ticket buyer) that we use to pay musicians, which is paid for by the ticket buyer.
We collect the Ticket Surcharge money each month from the ticket sales, and add to it all advertising money collected that month (anybody can advertise on our site). At the end of each month we subtract the Site Expenses from the ticket surcharge and advertising money collected that month, and what is left over we divide between our two systems that pays our Musicians at the end of each month - 65% goes to our Pay Per Play system, which is our own version of the royalty system that pays musicians for their song streams, and 35% goes to our Band Bonus system, which gives money to Musicians who are in Bands to help them to make the purchases needed to make their tunes.
So at the end of every month:
(ticket surcharge money collected that month + advertising money collected that month - site expenses) * 0.65
/
total song streams that month
= how much we pay per song stream that month, transferred using Stripe to the musicians who are to get paid for the songs uploaded by bands.
This is our custom royalty system called the Pay Per Play system.
The other 0.35 is split evenly between all bands to help them (internally) pay for equipment and services from essential businesses that sign up here. This is called our Band Bonus system.
So how much our musicians get paid per song stream each month in our Pay Per Play system is different every month, based on the ticket and advertising sales that month.
There will never be a limit to the amount musicians can make per song stream each month, so only sell your live-music tickets here from now on to help musicians out.
If you run either a Studio, Manufacturer/Retailer or a Music Video making company, apply for your appropriate account after signing up as a Fan, so Bands can spend their free monthly Band Bonus money on your product or service. Bands cannot withdraw this money - it is transferred to you internally via Stripe after you submit the code they receive when they allocate some of their Band Bonus money to your business. A Band Bonus API is available for the Manufacturer/Retailer account, so these types of businesses can receive Band Bonus codes on their online checkout pages. The Band Bonus feature helps to ease the financial burden Bands face while trying to make their tunes or gig.
For more info on everything, check out the How It Works, as well as the Finance section 'More Info'.
Find some good Bands you like and SUBSCRIBE TO THEM.
Their tunes are then made available in your Playlist.
Make a Playlist, ‘Broadcast’ it and it will play through your Live Industry Radio. Change the song
you’re listening to through the Sequencer. Make unlimited playlists.
Listen to all the songs you want for free and uninterrupted! Also, search and buy tickets for shows in your area through the Map. Remember, all ticket surcharge money goes to Musicians for their song streams.
Apply to update your Fan account to Musician in the Action modal.
You can then create or join Band accounts.
When one of your tunes is uploaded by a Band, you will be listed as a Song Creditor. You will then
receive Pay Per Play money every month for the song's streams, depending on how much ticket surcharge and advertising money is collected that month.
See How It Works for more
details.
Every month, we divide up the extra money made by all Ticket sales, and divide it equally between all the
Bands in our Band Bonus system. Bands can either let the money accumulate, or can spend it right away on
any of the Products and Services accounts that have signed up with us! Bands can ‘allocate’ their Band
Bonus money to any of the studios, manufacturers and retailers of audio hardware and software, and music
video makers that have signed up. Once Band Bonus money is allocated, Bands receive a code, which they
give to whoever they’ve allocated the money to, a studio, for example. The studio would input the code
through their Live Industry Radio account, and the money would be transferred into their account, which
would act like a discount for the Bands! Or music industry retailers can put our API code widget on their
e-commerce site, through which Bands can input their code, and the allocated amount would be removed from
their purchase, like a discount code.
Bands can search for Gigs (Host Public Events) through the Map, and can apply to play at them. This way,
Bands can plan their tours for free!
SELL TICKETS TO YOUR OWN SHOWS! Apply to create a Host account in the Action modal.
You can then create Host Public Events, which are shown on the Map for Fans to buy tickets to, and for
Bands to apply to play at. It's super easy for both Fans and Bands to find your shows. Bands apply to play at your show, you listen to their latest hit single, and sign them up. Done.
WE CHARGE NO FEES TO HOSTS FOR SELLING TICKETS TO THEIR LIVE MUSIC EVENTS THROUGH OUR SITE. You can charge what you want for tickets, and Fans pay a small Ticket Surcharge on every ticket sold, which is money that goes to musicians. (You must have at least one LIR Band booked to play at your show before you can start selling tickets on our platform and other restrictions apply. See Terms and Conditions for more details)
Everybody should have a Host account and be selling tickets if they’re having an event that will
have live music, even if it’s just a house party or a backyard BBQ, because it’ll mean more money for
musicians. Read How It Works for
specifics.
Apply for either a Studio, Manufacturer, or VideoService account through the Action modal.
Studio account is for anybody who records/edits music.
Manufacturer account is for anybody who manufactures or retails audio hardware or software.
VideoService is for anybody who records and edits music videos.
Bands can then search for your account when they are allocating their Band Bonus money. When a Band picks
your account, they decide how much money to allocate, and they receive a code. When it’s time to pay the
bill for your product or service, they give you their code, which you can submit through your Live
Industry Radio account, which would transfer the money over to you. You subtract that amount from the
total that the Band owes, and everybody’s happy.
An informative interview with site creator, Dave Thomson:
Q: Hey Dave, if listening to all music is free and uninterrupted, and using the Live Industry Radio platform is entirely free, how are you able to pay musicians outside the royalty system for their song streams every month?
A: First off, I'm a life-long guitarist, and have done home recordings for many many years with my 2 brothers. I've actually done music since age 7 (classical piano, violin, jazz double bass, tuba, guitar etc), but in 2014 I quit music, after playing guitar for 24 years, due to grievances with the music industry. Shortly after I decided to replace the music Industry, due to lack of anything better to do, so I came up with my idea and 10 years later, here we are!
Q: Ya so how..
A: Anybody can host live-music events through this platform and sell tickets. Just apply for a free 'Host' account upgrade, after you sign in. Hosts can sell tickets on our platform, and can easily find Bands to play at their shows (free feature).
The Host account type, and any additional accounts you create, all link to your user account (called the Fan account, which is the first account type you get when you sign in (everybody gets one)).
... I.e., Musician, Band, Host, Studio, Retailer/Manufacturer, and Music Video Maker accounts are different accounts you can make, if you associate with any of their roles within the industry, that will link to your Fan account.
Anyway, we collect a small Ticket Surcharge that is put on every ticket sold by a Host through our platform, which is paid for by the ticket buyers (Fans).
At the end of each month, after subtracting site maintenance costs, we take the Ticket Surcharge money from tickets sold that month, as well the advertising money collected that month (anybody can advertise on our site, image ads only), and divide it by our two systems that pays Musicians. 65% pays for song streams, and 35% for Bands to buy stuff.
... So 65% of money acquired that month (after site costs), divided by the total number of song streams on our site that month, is how much each stream on our site is worth that month. At the end of every month we pay our Musicians accordingly through the payment platform Stripe, for their song streams that month based on how much each song stream is worth that month.
The more tickets and advertising sold in a month, the more musicians can make that month per song stream.
For example, if there's $10 000 available in the Pay Per Play system at the end of the month (after subtracting site maintenance costs), and 1 million song streams in total on the site that month, then each song that was streamed that month would be worth $0.01 (one cent), paid out at the end of the month.
There will never be a cap to the amount a song stream could be worth each month.
So everybody should create a Host account and start selling tickets to their own shows, and musicians and bands should only play shows hosted through Live Industry Radio, so their song streams on our site can pay out more. Please note, we have very stringent Terms of Use regulations regarding shows hosted on LIR, please refer to the 'How it works' and 'Terms and Conditions' sections for more details.
We split the remaining 35% of ticket and advertising sales money (after site costs) evenly between all LIR Musicians at the end of every month, in our Band Bonus system. This is to help Bands with their financial burdens while they pursue their Art. Musicians can pick one Band they're a member of to receive their Band Bonus money.
Bands can spend their free monthly Band Bonus money on products and services of music industry businesses that have signed up to our platform. Bands can save up their money each month, or spend it right away.
Bands can only spend their Band Bonus money internally on the products and services offered by music businesses that have signed up to Live Industry Radio (i.e., they can't withdraw the cash). Recording studios, music retailers/manufacturers, and music video companies can sign up to offer their products and services to receive the free Band Bonus money Bands have to spend every month.
Bands receive a code when they allocate some or all of their Band Bonus money to a particular business. After they receive the business' product or service, they give the business the code. The business redeems the code, and money is transferred to the business' Stripe account, and subtracted from the amount owing on the product or service. So it's like a discount code, which bands can use towards some studio time or a new amp modeler etc.
We also have a Band Bonus API that Retailer/Manufacturer accounts can put on their e-commerce checkout page, which uses the Band Bonus code as a discount code for any online purchases.
All monthly finances, including Site Expenses, are thoroughly documented in the Finance section.
If you want to ditch all the ads (image ads only allowed on our site), then please 'Donate' to your subscribed bands. This means you give $0.005 (half a cent) to the songwriters/owners of your subscribed Bands songs when you listen to them, and this money goes directly to the Musicians who wrote or own the songs without any deductions. Requires a $50 deposit, which gives you 10000 songs, which is like listening to tunes for 22 hours a day (based on 4 minute song average). Musicians will do alright with our Pay Per Play system (our own royalty system), so please listen all day for free, but if you really love your Bands, or really hate the ads, please consider Donating to your subscribed Bands.
Sign up now for free, find bands you like and subscribe to them.
Make playlists with your subscribed bands songs in the Playlist section, and listen forever for free.
Find shows to go to in the Map section. You can also find shows on the calendars on Fan, Band, and Host pages. (You have the option of showing which shows you've bought tickets to on your Fan page calendar (optional)).
Hosts show all shows they're hosting on their Host page calendar.
Bands show all shows they're playing at on their Band page calendar.
Fans show all shows they've bought tickets to on their Fan page calendar (optional).
Listen to the Singles of all bands playing that these shows and buy tickets right from the calendar. Very convenient.
Listen to each band's hot new single wherever the band is listed on our site, without having to go to 10 different sites just to hear what they sound like.
This is an independent version of the music industry. It is free to use, including all account types and their services. You only pay to buy tickets to live-music shows and to advertise, which is money we use to pay our Musicians.
Listening to all music is free, unlimited and uninterrupted. Musicians get paid a variable amount for their song streams each month outside the royalty system based on live-music event ticket sales and advertising sales that month on this platform, in our Pay Per Play system, which is our own version of the royalty system. Bands also receive money each month that they can spend like coupons on the products and services they need to make their Art.
This site is designed so all music industry people and fans can operate in an alternative music industry, without the need for 3rd party services or interference.
Below is a detailed account of how this site works.
We are currently working on a new version of this site that will be scalable to involve all other countries, and all other Art industries (film, literature, theater, stand-up, visual arts etc). If you have any questions or find something inconvenient or failing with this version, please write to support@liveindustryradio.com or contact Support through the settings of your Fan account in Action.
Thank you,

Note: Any explanatory, help, or how-to posts about Live Industry Radio on the internet must include the date and the website's version number for it in the title and at the top of the body (readily visible). This is to avoid the confusion that is lots of how-to posts that people read that are made for older versions of a site, leading to unnecessary inconvenience trying to find out how to do things. Internet creators that we find that have failed to follow this rule after warnings will be listed below.

DOCUMENTATION
BASIC PLATFORM FLOW:
1) Find bands you like and subscribe to them. Go to Playlist section, which is at the top, or in the menu if on mobile. Make playlists from your Subscribed Band's songs, and stream them forever, for free and uninterrupted. Also, find shows and buy tickets (there's a surcharge on tickets, which is how we pay Musician's for their song streams, plus all advertising income, after site costs).
2) If you're a Musician, apply for a Musician account. Then you can get paid for song streams outside the royalty system.
3) Once you're approved as a Musician, you can create a new Band account (or join somebody's Band account) and upload Songs through the Band account. When you upload a Song through your Band account, you list all the Musicians who are to get paid for that Song's song streams.
4) All musicians who are listed to get paid for a Song that is uploaded by a Band must approve 1) the Song being uploaded, 2) all the other listed Musicians to get paid for the song streams of the Song that the Band is uploading, 3) and everybody's percentage that they are to receive of the song stream money. This approval is done via an UPDATE sent to your Fan account (Action section / Fan / Updates). If all Musicians listed to get paid approve of the Band's Song upload, then the Song upload can complete, and the Song is added to the Band's repertoire that becomes accessible in the Playlist section when people Subscribe to the Band.
5) If you write a good song that a Band wants to cover, they should contact you prior to discuss your % that you will get paid for the song streams. Unauthorized uploads by Bands is a violation of our Terms of Use and the law - please report any songs in which the proper Musicians are not listed as Song Creditors.
6) We put a 'ticket surcharge' on all tickets sold through LIR that helps pay Musicians for their song streams. LIR Musicians get paid for their song streams at the end of every month through Stripe, based on the total number of tickets and advertising sold on the site that month after site costs, divided by the total number of song streams on the site that month (multiplied by 0.65 as we have two payment systems to help musicians out). There will never be a cap to the amount Musicians can get paid each month - the more tickets and advertising sold, the more each song stream could be worth. Check the Finance section for more details.
Putting on a show? CREATE A HOST ACCOUNT.
More details below:
Account types
There are 6 free accounts that you can create. The basic user account (Fan) is the account that everybody creates when they register, and in which they sign into Live Industry Radio in with. The other 5 account types represent the other music industry people included in our version of the music industry - Musician, Host, Recording Studio, Retailers/Manufacturer, and VideoService (music video makers). Once you sign up as a Fan, you can apply for one of these other 5 accounts. Once approved, the additional accounts will be linked to your Fan account, and accessible whenever you sign in through your Fan account. Only the Fan account can stream music while on the site and purchase live-music event tickets, which is why all other account types link to the Fan account.
You can also get more information on the 5 other account types from the top of their application forms which are shown below, and which can also be found in the Action modal.
Once signed in, click on 'Action' in the top toolbar, click your name, then go to Accounts, and click on the different application forms to read detailed info on each account type.
If you write or own songs, you can upgrade your Fan account to Musician. Then, if a Band account uploads your tunes and they get streamed, you get paid outside the royalty system at the end every month for their song streams, through our Pay Per Play system (which is our version of the royalty system). How much we pay per song stream at the end of every month depends on how much ticket surcharge and advertising money is collected during that month. As part of the upload process, Bands list the songwriters/owners/entities (Song Creditors) who are to receive money for the Song streams, as well as the percentage that they are to receive.
All Song Creditors to be paid for song streams must have an approved Musician account before a Band can upload that song, as per our Terms of Use. Song Creditors must also all agree to the song being uploaded by the Band prior to the upload process completing, and must all agree to their allocated Pay percentages before the upload can complete. Read the 'HOW EXACTLY DO MUSICIANS MAKE MONEY' section below for more detail.
Once you have upgraded to a Musician account, you can create a Band account, and upload tunes. Only Musicians can create Band accounts. Only Band accounts can upload tunes. Once you have your Band account, invite your other Band members into your account to help run it. Additional members do not need to be Musicians. We provide financial aid to all Bands equally at the end of every month, to help them internally purchase what they need to record their tunes or music videos, through our Band Bonus system. See the Studio, Manufacturing/Retailer, VideoService email below for more info.
If you host events with live music, sign up for a free Host account. Set your ticket prices, pay no fees, and let the Live Industry Radio platform naturally do all advertising/marketing for you. We apply a ticket surcharge to every ticket sold, paid for by the ticket buyer, which is what we use, after site costs, to pay musicians, together with the advertising.
If you record music, you can create a Studio account. When it's time to record, Bands can pick through the list of available Studios, and then use their monthly Band Bonus money to help pay for their choice recording studio(s) services. See the top of the Studio application form (in the Action section) for more info.
If you manufacture or retail audio hardware/software, you can create a Manufacturer/Retailer account. When it's time to purchase equipment, Bands can pick through the list of available Manufacturers/Retailers, and use their Band Bonus money to help pay for the products offered by Live Industry Radio Manufacturers and Retailers. See the top of the Manufacturer application form (in the Action section) for more info.
If you make music videos, you can create a VideoService account. Bands can pick through the list of available VideoService accounts, and use their Band Bonus money to help pay for the services of their choice music video makers. See the top of the Video Service application form (in the Action section) for more info.
HOW TO LISTEN TO SONGS, UNINTERRUPTED, FOR FREE:

HOW DOES LIVE INDUSTRY RADIO BENEFIT MUSICIANS?
We pay musicians monthly, outside the royalty system, in our Pay Per Play system.
We give bands a monthly Band Bonus, which they can spend internally on the products and services of music industry related businesses that sign up with us.
We provide the means for bands to completely book and plan their tours, including finding and booking gigs, and coordinating internal private events, for free.
Bands are able write Newsletters to their subscribed Fans.
We offer Fans the opportunity to Donate to their Subscribed Bands, which is money (half a cent per song play) that goes directly to the song's writers/owners, without any fees or deductions. Half a cent per song play might represent a 900% increase in income for musicians, which is what we're currently working towards in our Pay Per Play system. You can help out by buying tickets to live-music events created by Host accounts on our site. You can see where we're at this month in the Finance section.
Bands can find and book gigs locally or across the country using our platform, without having to pay to booking agents, and Hosts can easily find bands to play at their shows. Bands apply for gigs still needed Bands to join, through the Map section. Hosts can listen to applicants, and correspond with them, and add them to their gig rosters. Fans can check out upcoming gigs across the country and listen to the Bands latest hit Singles before buying tickets to the show.
HOW EXACTLY DO MUSICIANS MAKE MONEY? (and music industry businesses too)
We collect a surcharge off every live-music event ticket sold by Hosts (which is paid by ticket purchasers), currently $6.
We encourage everybody to create a Host account if they are having an event with live-music. It is easy and will help to ensure musicians acquire a decent amount per song stream every month.
At the end of every month, we take what we need to run the site (from the ticket surcharge and advertising money that has accumulated that month), and push the rest of the money back to Musicians, in order to simulate our own version of the royalty system (Pay Per Play system) and ease the financial stress of the musician trying to record their music or make music videos (Band Bonus system).
At the end of every month, after we subtract site expenses, we take the money left over from the ticket surcharge and advertising money collected that month, and we divide it 65% and 35% between the Pay Per Play system (pays Musicians for their song streams that month), and the Band Bonus system (Bands receive money at the end of each month to spend internally on products and services offered by music industry businesses who sign up at Live Industry Radio (Studios, Audio Manufacturers/Retailers, and Music Video Makers)). You can view the monthly details in the Finance section. In the monthly Pay Per Play system, we divide the available Pay Per Play money by the total number of Song plays on the site, and his is how much a Song stream is worth at the end of the month. We divide the money a Song made that month, and divide it between it's Song Creditors (people who wrote or own the song), depending on their allotted percentage that they are to make from that Song. The accumulated song stream money for that month is then transferred to each Song Creditor through Stripe.
For example, if there is 1 million song plays on the site in one month, and the amount available in the Pay Per Play system at the end of the month is $100 000 (65% of the accumulated ticket surcharge and advertising month acquired that month), then every song play would be worth $0.10 (ten cents) for that month. If you have a Musician account, and are listed as Song Creditor on various Band songs, with 10 000 song streams in total (and listed at 100% Song Creditor allocation for each song), then you would receive $1000 for your various song streams that month.
For the Band Bonus system, we take the amount available at the end of the month in the Band Bonus system (35% of ticket surcharge and advertising money made that month) and divide it by the total number of Musicians on the site. This is how much each Musician receives for the Band Bonus. Musicians are able to apply their Band Bonus to one (1) of the Band accounts that they are a member of. Bands can then use their Band Bonus money to pay for the products and services of music industry business that sign up with us.
The amount Musicians make Per Play and Bands receive in their Band Bonus each month varies and is not guaranteed. Live Industry Radio will first allocate what money that is needed to maintain the site and improve it, and the rest is pushed back to musicians in the Pay Per Play and Band Bonus system. We will ensure a fair balance between Musician and Band money, and site maintenance/improvement. Generally, the more tickets and advertising sold on Live Industry Radio each month, the more musicians will make that month.
Fans are also able to Donate to their subscribed bands, which means they give half a cent for every song play, which is money that goes directly to the song writers/owners.
Our initial goal is to match the Donating rate of half a cent Per Play (per song stream) in our monthly Pay Per Play system. Musicians sometimes receive between 4 and 9 percent of a cent from the royalty system, after all is said and done. If the Pay Per Play payout can get up to half a cent Per Play, it might represent a 900% increase in revenue for musicians.
Music industry related businesses can sign up, in order to receive the Band Bonus money we give to bands every month. Bands allocate their Band Bonus money to these businesses and receive a code, which bands can use as a discount code for the businesses products and services that bands need to make their tunes or music videos.
HOW TO CREATE OR UPGRADE ACCOUNTS (if you're a musician, or want to sell tickets, or own a music related business):
To create or join a Band account, you must first apply to become a Musician. You can do that in the Action modal (at the top), click your Fan account (which is represented by your name), click Settings, and click 'Upgrade to Musician'. When it's cleared, you may then apply to create a new Band account. Every musician and band that registers to our site must be individually approved by Admin.
If you write music, or own/co-own music that could possibly be uploaded by a Band, please upgrade your Fan account to Musician (Action modal, Fan account, Accounts).
When a Band then lists you as a Song Creditor (our version of the royalty system) for one of your Songs , you will receive an 'Update' to your Fan account (in the Action modal, click your name, click on Updates), showing the percentage you will receive of the Pay Per Play money the song makes, and asking for your approval to have the Song uploaded by that Band. If you approve, you will then receive that song's monthly Pay Per Play payout through your Stripe account. Detailed info on how to set up your Stripe account, and how the the Pay Per Play system works can be found below in the 'email sent when you are approved as a Musician'.
To create a Host account, go to the Action modal (at the top), click your Fan account, click Settings, and click 'Create New Host Account'.
To create any of the Products and Service accounts that Bands can allocate their Band Bonus to (Studio account (anybody who can record music), Manufacturer account (audio hardware/software manufacturers and retailers) and VideoService account (anybody who can make music videos)), please go to the Action modal, your Fan account, Settings, and 'Create New whatever account'.
EVERYBODY SHOULD APPLY TO CREATE A NEW HOST ACCOUNT:
If you need live music for any type of event, then please -
Create a Host account so you can sell tickets through our site. Generally, the more tickets sold each month, the more musicians make per song stream each month.
Host accounts can make 'Host Public Events' which are events that feature live music, and that are shown on the Map for Fans to buy tickets to, and Bands to apply to play at. It would be fine to ask family members to buy tickets to Christmas dinner if you have prepared a small set on piano for them beforehand.
We apply a small surcharge on every ticket sold, and use this money in our Pay Per Play and Band Bonus systems. All profit after site expenses/expansion is pushed back to Musicians and Bands.
All Host account activities and events are governed by our Terms of Use. Hosts must ensure their events are run as per our Terms of Use and applicable laws.
Access to Host Public Events and ticket sales is found EVERYWHERE on our site. Host, Bands, and Fans all have 'SCHEDULERS' on their profile pages, which are calendars of upcoming events they have booked or bought tickets to (showing upcoming events for Fans is optional after paying for tickets). Through the MAP section, Fans can find details of all live-music events on any date across the country, and buy tickets. They can also hear all Bands scheduled to play, and listen to their latest HIT SINGLE. This is also true of all Schedulers. There is no need to advertise any event.
Read the 'Here's the email we send when you create a new HOST account' section below for more details on how a Host account works.
As a Fan, here some ways you can get LIR Musicians more money:
Apply for a Host account, and create Public Events, and sell tickets to people through our site. The small ticket surcharge that we add to every ticket sold gets divided up evenly between all the Musicians and Bands
Listen to more of your subscribed bands tunes. Every time you listen, we pay bands directly through Stripe from money made from advertising and ticket sales, in our Pay Per Play System.
Advertise! on our site. All money from advertising goes towards the Pay Per Play and Band Bonus systems (after site expenses). You can Advertise! from the Action modal / your Fan account.
Check out how much our Musicians are making in the Finance section.

Here's the info at the top of the Band application (only visible to Musicians):
Now that you have obtained Musicianship, you are able to create a Band account. Once you have your Band account, invite your other Band members to join, so they can help you run your account. This is done in the Action modal (at the top), under Settings in your Band account.
The following information is also available to be read at the bottom of the 'How It Works' section in the menu.
Through the Map, Bands can find gigs (Host Pulic Events) that still need Bands to play at them, either locally or across the country, and submit an application to join the Event's Roster (apply to play at the gig). This way Bands can plan out their cross-country tours without the need for booking agents. Through the Scheduler, Bands can also create Private Events, which are internal Events for all Band members, so that they can schedule their practices, gigs, and tours in their entirety ('9am Meet in lobby for bus' etc). We are currently working on a Band mobile app that would work in sync with the Scheduler, through which Bands members can directly communicate and manage their account.
Song writers/owners receive money Per Play from songs Bands upload to their Live Industry Radio Band account at the end of every month, through their associated Musician Stripe account. Bands also receive Band Bonus money at the end of every month, which is money they can spend on the products and services of music industry related Product and Service Accounts (PSAs) that have signed up with us. You can let it accumulate every month for a special purchase, or you can spend it right away. The amount of Band Bonus money that Bands receive is dependent on the number of Host Public Event tickets sold through the site, and the amount of advertising done. See the Finance section and the How It Works section for more details.
Go to the Band Bonus section, select a business you want to spend your Band Bonus money on, decide how much you want to spend on them, and then write down the code after you hit the 'Allocate' button. When you go to pay the PSA for their product or service, give them the code, and they will enter it into their PSA Live Industry Radio account. The money will then be transferred from your Band Bonus money to their associate Stripe account. This way the Band Bonus code acts like a discount code for the products and services you need to record your songs and music videos.
Here's the info at the top of the Musician application:
Once your application for Musicianship is approved, if a Band uploads a song in which you have written or own, they must list you as a 'Song Creditor' (somebody who gets paid for that Song's song streams at the end of every month in our Pay Per Play system). Bands upload Songs royalty free, which means Live Industry Radio does not pay songwriters/owners through the royalty system for the Song's song streams. Instead, we pay them at the end of every month through our own internal Pay Per Play system for their song streams.
Only Band accounts can upload Songs, and only Musicians can create a Band account. Once you are approved as a Musician, you can create a Band account. Then you can upload a Song.
During a song upload, Bands assign the percentage of Pay Per Play money that each Song Creditor is to receive. During the upload, and before the Song is made available in the Band's repitoire, an Update is sent to all Song Creditors, who must 1) approve of the Song being uploaded by the Band, and 2) approve of their assigned Pay Per Play percentage. Once all Song Creditors approved, the Song is added to the Band's repitoire, and all Song Creditors are paid accordingly at the end of every month, outside the royalty system, for the number of song streams the Song had that month. See the Finance section and the How It Works section in the menu for more information on how we calculate how much each song stream is worth that month.
Here's the email you receive when your Musician application is approved:
Your application to upgrade your account to Musician has been approved.
You can now create and join band accounts, get paid in our Pay Per Play system, and join our Band Bonus system.
FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT:
If you plan on getting paid through our Pay Per Play system, you must create a Stripe account that will be used to transfer money to your bank. Get your bank info handy. It’s very easy:
Go to Action (at the top), click your name, and go to the bottom where it says ‘Create Stripe Account’. It will take you to the Stripe account creation page.
Now that you are a Musician, you may be listed as a Song Creditor on songs that bands upload.
When a band uploads a song, they list all the songwriters/song owners (all people who are to receive a cut of the money, we call them Song Creditors) and the percentage that they are supposed to receive from the Pay Per Play money that the song generates.
All of the people who own the song (who are to receive a share of the song’s profit) must have a Live Industry Radio account that has been upgraded to musician before the song can be uploaded by a band. We are not responsible for legal disputes should the song be uploaded without all the Song Creditors listed correctly.
Before the song goes public and joins the Pay Per Play system, all of the Song Creditors must approve of their percentage. When a band uploads a song, an Update is sent to all of the listed Song Creditors, who must approve of their percentage. There must be 100% approval from the Song Creditors for the song to go public.
If you are listed as a Song Creditor, you will be paid for your song streams at the end of every month, through the bank account listed in your Stripe account.
We divide the amount of advertising money made that month (and possibly some of the ticket surcharge money, if we feel like boosting the Pay Per Play payout) by the total number of song plays on the site that month, and that’s how much each song plays get Per Play that month.
So if the site generates $10 000 by the end of the month, and there are 1 000 000 song plays that month, each song play would then get $0.01 (one cent). If your band’s killer single pulled off 160 song plays that month, then it would receive $1.60. If you and your buddy wrote the song, and listed each other as 50% Song Creditors, then you would get $0.80 sent to your bank account, and your buddy would get $0.80.
Now that you are a Musician, you can create band accounts.
Only Musicians can currently create Band accounts. To create a new band account, go to Action (at the top), click your name, go to Accounts, and click on Create New Band account.
All applications are fully reviewed by Admin.
If you want to upload Songs, you must create a Band account.
To join an already existing band account, have the band send you an invite, which you will receive as an Update.
To check for Updates, go to Action (at the top), click your name, and go to Updates.
You can dedicate one Band to receive your Band Bonus money.
Every month we take the ticket sales surcharge money that is left over after site expenses (and possibly some transfer to Pay Per Play system), and divide it evenly between all the musicians on the site. Musicians can then dedicate one Band to receive their Band Bonus money.
Bands can let this Band Bonus money accumulate over the months, or use it right away for any of the products and services available in the Band Bonus system. They can choose one of the many music industry businesses that have signed up to allocate some or all of their Band Bonus money to. After they allocate some or all of their Band Bonus money to a business, they receive a code.
After the band has received the business’ product or service, they give the business their code. The business then enters the code, and the Band Bonus money is transferred to them, acting like a discount code.
Here's the email you receive when your new Band account is approved:
(Band name)'s application has been approved.
You can now:
invite your buddies to your band account
upload music that Fans can listen to after they subscribe to your band
apply to play at Host Public Events (gigs) on the Map
receive and spend your Band Bonus money
send newsletters to subscribers
To invite the other band members to your band account:
Go to Action (at the top), click your band name, go to settings, and go to ‘Invite Band Members.
From there you can search for them, and send them an application, which will be sent as an Update to their Fan account (in Action (at the top)).
Your band members must first apply to have their account upgraded to Musician before they can join your band account. ... UPDATE: Band members do not have to be upgraded to Musician to be added to your Band (in case their job is management, tech, crew etc). Also, you can invite Affiliates to join your band, who only get special recognition on their Fan page as being an Affiliate of your Band (ur mom, girlfriend, that studio guy etc), and who can only join the Band's private chat (can't do any of the other regular Band member functions).
If you invite a Band member as an 'Admin', they can do everything including send invites for others to join the Band, remove Members (voting process) and adjust Abilities of members. If you invite a Band member as a 'Member', they cannot add/remove Members or adjust Abilities. If you invite an 'Affiliate', they can only chat in the private Band chat (can't do anything else within the Band). Examples of Abilities (pending) are sending Mail/Newsletters, uploading Songs, customize the Band page (pending), contacting Support etc.
Don't forget to dedicate one of your tunes as a Single.
You can do so in the Music section (see below)
Your Single represent your band, wherever your band name is seen on the site.
If a Fan is listening to one of your tunes while posting on a chat wall, your band name goes on the post, and other Fans can click on the ‘Play Single’ link beside your band name on the post to listen to your Single.
Your Single is listened to instantly, and also gets added to the bottom of their currently playing playlist.
Your Single can also be heard from
the Charts (at the top)
the ‘Top Singles (of the week)’ section are the top played Singles that week on the site.
the ‘Top Singles (of the week)’ resets every Sunday morning at midnight, so if you’re going to switch your Single, you should do so Saturday night, shortly before midnight.
Fan pages ‘Top 50 Played Bands’ section
Fan pages ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar
When Fans buy tickets, they have the option of publicly displaying the Host Public Events on their calendar in their ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar.
Fans who check out other Fan’s ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar can see all the bands booked to play at each Host Public Event that that Fan has bought tickets to, and listen to each band’s Single.
If it’s cool, Fans can buy tickets from other Fan’s ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar also, after checking out which bands are playing and listening to their Single.
Band pages ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar
If your Band has applied and been approved to play at a Host Public Event, then that Host Public Event goes onto your band page’s ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar.
Fans who check out your band’s ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar can also check out the other bands that are booked to play at each Host Public Event that your band is booked at, and listen to their Single.
If it’s cool, Fans can buy tickets from your band’s ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar, after checking out which other bands are lined up to play at your gigs, and listening to their Single.
Your band page
If you don’t have a video uploaded for your Single, when Fans click on your music video play on your band page, your Single is played through their Live Industry Radio.
Your Single gets added to the bottom of their currently playing playlist.
To upload a music video for your Single, go to Action (at the top), click on your band name, and go to the ‘Upload a Music Video for your Single’ link.
You can get money to help have people make your Single’s music video from the Band Bonus money (see below).
To upload music to your band account:
Go to Action (at the top), click your band name, and click on the ‘Music’ link.
From there you can make Albums, EPs, or upload individual songs.
Once you create an album or an EP, you can add songs to it, or you can upload individual songs (songs that are not part of any album or EP)
As per our Terms of Use, Bands must properly list all of the Song Creditors (Musicians who are to get paid for the Song's song streams each month):
Song Creditors are our version of ‘royalty receivers’; they are people who should take a cut of any money a song makes
On Live Industry Radio, you upload your songs royalty free (which means you won’t be getting paid through the royalty system).
Instead, we pay your for the service of uploading your songs and having Fans stream them through their Live Industry Radio.
What we pay out is dependent on how much profit the site generates through ticket sale surcharges and advertising, after site expenses (what we need to run the site). If there is little profit, then the Pay Per Play payout is little, but if there is much profit, then the Pay Per Play payout will be much.
When you upload a song to your band account, you must properly list all Song Creditors (people who are to receive a cut of the Pay Per Play payout), and their proper percentage of the Pay Per Play money they are to receive that the song makes every month.
Song Creditors include people who wrote the songs, corporate people who own the song etc.
You can only be listed as a Song Creditor if your Fan account has been upgraded to Musician.
So, for example, if you and your buddy wrote a tune, and you agree to split the profits 50/50, then when you’re uploading the tune, you would search for both of your Fan names in the Song Creditor search, and put 50% for both of you.
If you’re contractually obligated to pay out a certain amount to a corporation, then that corporation must be represented by somebody who has upgraded their Fan account to musician..
Songs do not enter the Pay Per Play system until the song upload has been approved by all listed Song Creditors.
An Update is sent to all Song Creditors, who must approve of the upload and their percentage rate, before the song is entered into that band’s repertoire, and joins the Pay Per Play system.
To find gigs for your band to play at:
Go to the Map (at the top)
Click on your band name on the left
Enter your search criteria (date/genre/event type etc).
Click on the markers on the Map to check out the gig details.
You can check out the other bands who’s applications have already been accepted to play in the gig, and listen to their Single
You have apply to have your Band play at the gig at the bottom of the info section.
Hosts receive applications for their Public Events, and can check out your band stats, and listen to your single.
If you are accepted by the Host to play at the Public Event, you will receive an Update to your band account, and the gig will be listed in your Scheduler (at the top), and in your bands ‘Show booked gigs’ calendar.
You and the Host might coordinate details, such as pay and start times, via the mail system before the Host accepts your application.
If Hosts have already filled their Band Roster, or have marked their Public Event as' 'Private Invite Only', then their Host Public Event will not be seen on the Map for Bands to apply to.
Relevant info: Host Public Events are only seen on the Map for Fans to buy tickets to once at least one band is booked to play at it. Also, Hosts may put a 'Ticket Release Date' on their Public Event, and the tickets are made available only after the date and time of the release (which will happen only if there is at least one band booked to play).
To coordinate your tours with Private Events.
You can coordinate your band’s tours with private events.
Band practices and meet times can be scheduled through band Public Events, which are private and visible only on other band member’s Scheduler (at the top).
This will be handy when we eventually come out with our mobile app, through which allow band member to communicate and schedule private events on the fly
This function allows you to complete schedule tours. (Private event: July 6th, 8am – ‘Meet in the lobby’ etc). Then once the mobile app comes out, you will receive alerts, and be able to communicate about scheduled events (Phil says: ‘Hurry the fuck up Dave’ etc).
Go to the Scheduler (at the top), click on your band name at the left, click on a day you want the private event to be on, then click ‘Create Private Event’ on the right.
The Band app (pending) will make scheduling all gigs, practices, tour schedules etc very convenient, as well as communication between all Band members.

General FAQ
Most important: When you create a new Host Public Event (HPE), so you can start selling tickets to your show, it will come with a 'HPE Checklist'. This checklist will have to be officially completed before the start of your event. All of the below regulations are covered in the HPE Checklist, which is specialized per province and event type.
As per our Terms of Use, you are responsible for ensuring your events are legal and safe. However, we are 100% committed to enforcing absolute due diligence that our Hosts are aware of any and all applicable laws, and that their events are set up legally and safely, as per their event types and locations.
So for each event that you create and start selling tickets for with your new Host account, you will have a HPE Checklist for that event, that must be completed before the event starts. Event basics like insurance, security, entrances, and other rules that we enforce for legal, safety, and regulatory purposes, as per our Terms of Use, specific to the event type and location, are all covered in the HPE Checklist.
Basically, we need lots of events to happen, and tickets sold, so our Musicians can make more per song stream, but only if it is 100% not feasible that people get hurt at them.
Fun and safe events ONLY.
I would appreciate your help in ensuring your events are safe, so this website can succeed - Dave
You can also create 'Private' Events in the Scheduler that are for internal purposes only, which are only seen on your Scheduler for you and your Host account members to see (not on your public Host page calendar), and which are for organizing purposes only (meetings, private scheduling etc).
You can also set up multi-day events and festivals, from the Scheduler.
When creating a new HPE, you can make it a weekly reoccuring event, so that it happens on certain days of the week, all with the same basic details (which you can update later as you start to book bands). Call them something generic like 'Pending Event' or 'Monday Jam Night'.
Select the 'Make this event a weekly event?' option when creating a new event through the Scheduler.
This is a useful if you run a show every night at your venue, which would save you from having to make 365 individual events. Instead, you can have 365 generic events available on the Map that bands can find on the Map and apply to play at, so they can set up their tours. Also handy if you run the same weekly jam night on Mondays, etc. You can later update these generic gigs with their proper event name, details and poster etc, through the Scheduler, once you have some bands apply to play at the gigs.
HOWEVER, as per our Anti-Ticket Scam Policy, after you book your first band, you can no longer adjust the ticket prices or the amount of tickets available. So please ENSURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TICKET INFO SAVED ON THE EVENT BEEFORE BOOKING THE FIRST BAND, otherwise you'll have to delete the event and create a new one with the right ticket prices.
When you're about to book your first band, you'll get a huge alert telling you to FIRST SAVE THE EVENT WITH THE RIGHT TICKET INFO BEFORE BOOKING THE FIRST BAND. Then come back and book the first band. Very important.
So once bands apply to play at the gig, officially coordinate with them all the details. Then save the right ticket prices for the gig, before officially adding the bands to the Band Roster.
Regardless if you are creating a single individual event, or 365 reoccuring events, As soon as your Host Public Event is created, it will be available on the Map for Bands to find and apply to play at ... unless you select the ‘Do not accept Band applications’ option when creating your Host Public Event. Either way, you can also send out invites out to select Bands, inviting them to apply to play at your event. This is useful if you already have the bands coordinated outside of the platform. Band Invites are done through the Event info in the Scheduler (at the very bottom of the event info).
Band members have their own section in the Map, through which they can search for Host Public Events that still need Bands to play.
Once a Band applies to your Host Public Event through the Map, you will receive an Update to your Host account (Action (at the top), click your Host name, then go to Updates). You will also get an email notification.
To see the applying band’s stats and listen to their single, go to the Scheduler, click your Host name on the left, click your Host Public Event name in the calendar, and then go all the way down to the bottom of the form, called the BAND APPLICANTS section (below the BAND ROSTER section).
There you can accept a Band’s application, which will put them into the Band Roster section. Once Bands are in the Band Roster, they are seen as a playing Band at the gig, wherever your gig is seen (Fan, Host, Band calendars (in their Show Booked Gigs link), the Map etc.). You can assign a Time Slot (when they're going to play) to Bands in your Band Roster.
Of course, don't forget to first set the gig's ticket prices and number of tickets available before officially adding any bands to your event roster, because afterwards the ticket info witll be locked.
Your Host Public Event is only visible on the Map for Fans to buy tickets to once at least one band is booked to play (on the Event's Band Roster). This is so you do not use our system to sell tickets for a non-music event.
You can either start selling tickets immediately after one Band is booked to play, or you can set a Ticket Release Date. Even if you set a Ticket Release Date, you still need at least one Live Industry Radio band book on the Band Roster to be able to start selling tickets on the specified date.
In addition to the Map, Fans can also buy tickets through the ‘Show Booked Gigs’ calendar on band pages that are booked to play at your event, as well as on the ‘Show Booked Gigs’ section on Fan pages who have bought tickets to your event already (if Fans select the option to display the shows they're going to), and on the 'Show Booked Gigs' calendar on your own Host page, which shows all of the upcoming events you're hosting.
Ticket sale money is transferred to your bank account one week after the completion of your Host Public Event.
This is in case your event is falsely advertised, or a fraud etc.
Fans have the ability to report Hosts through their profile page.
If your Host Public Event is found to be a fraud within the week following the completion of your event, ticket sales money may be refunded.
We apply a ticket surcharge on all tickets sold, paid for by the ticket buyer, through which we pay musicians in our Pay Per Play and Band Bonus systems.
The ticket surcharge applied to every ticket sold is currently $6 (subject to change). Even if your event is free, it will still cost people $6 + tax to get into your event. This money goes to pay musicians in our Pay Per Play and Band Bonus systems. We are replacing the music industry with this money, so it is important to us that Hosts are not able to abuse our system and advertise their free events on our platform, without having people pay the ticket surcharge to get in. This is so our Musicians can make a decent income through our platform.
Hosts who do Public Events without controlled entrances and who do not scan tickets at their free events (plus $6 ticket surcharge and tax etc) with our LIR Host app will face penalties, as per our Terms of Use.
We also have 'Host Auditors' who may frequent your free event, in order to ensure your event has controlled entrances, and is using the LIR Host Door app to redeem tickets or sign up new users up who do not have a ticket. They may arrive officially, or incognito. As per our Terms of Use, we reserve the right to apply penalties and/or refund tickets / ban Host accounts, if Hosts do not comply with our Terms of Use and run events as per their HPE Checklist.
All events hosted through LIR must be No-Cash events, so the Ticket Surcharge money can be entered into our system for the benefit of our Musicians.
In order for you to receive ticket money, tickets must be 'redeemed' (which means scanned) at the door, using our LIR Host Door app. This app is currently only available for Android phones, and is available at the Google Play Store. Money from redeemed tickets is transferred to your Stripe account 7 days after your event date. Non-redeemed tickets are made available for refund to ticket buyers 2 days after the date of your event, up until your ticket money is transferred to your Stripe account, a week after your event date. You can only access your events in the LIR Host Door app to redeem tickets on the day of your event, or the day after your event (in case it goes past midnight). However, there is a practice demo event available on the App, in which you can practice redeeming tickets, and signing up new fake users who do not have a ticket.
In the LIR Host Door app, if users come to your event without a ticket, they must first sign up for a new account before they are able to tap their credit card to pay for a ticket. This feature is only available to new users of the site - users who already have a LIR account must first pay for a ticket on their own, and present it at the door to be scanned. Door people should have 2 phones - one to scan tickets, and one to have new users sign up to the site to pay for a ticket, as this takes longer.
Since Live Industry Radio is currently only available to Canadians, non-residents of Canada do not sign up for a new account, but rather they can simply enter their email to receive the ticket receipt.
Currently your events can be 'Open door' or 'Closed door' events.
Both currently offer refunds (2 days after your event up to one week after your event, when your ticket money is transferred to your Stripe account) for un-redeemed tickets.
The only difference is that 'Closed door' events would have a limited number of seats, whereas 'Open door' events may put more than their venue's max capacity, in the event that more people than their max capacity filter through their event. You are responsible for ensuring you do not exceed the max capacity of your venue, as per our Terms of Use. 'Open door' events can only have one general admission charge (like a cover charge), where 'Closed door' events can have up to 10 different admission charges, for different seating prices etc.
Please read our Terms of Service (found at the top right menu pulldown), as we have several rules regarding hosting Public Events. Some of the main ones include:
All Host Public Events must feature live music.
Only once you have at least one Band booked to play, your Host Public Event can be immediately shown on the Map for Fans to buy tickets to (optional). You can also set a ticket release date, but you still require one Band booked for that to happen.
All of your entrances must be controlled.
All attendees must have tickets purchased through Live Industry Radio.
Ie. nobody gets in for free, and nobody buys tickets at the door for cash.
This is because we pay our Musicians with the ticket surcharge applied to all tickets (currently $6), and if people get into your event for free, or you sell tickets outside of our system, it means that you are taking advantage of our system for promotional purposes, which isn’t fair.
Users are able to report Hosts who violate this rule, and we also have secret Auditors, who may check in periodically on Host Public Events to ensure their entrances are controlled and cash is not being used to enter the event.
Our system is anti-scalper/anti- ticket price scams:
Fans are restricted to one purchase transaction per Host Public Event, and are limited to 15 tickets per purchase transaction. Credit cards can also be used only once per Host Public Event.
Hosts are not allowed to adjust ticket prices after adding a band to the HPE Band Roster, so please be careful when adding the first band to first set the right ticket prices.
Recap: you cannot change the number of tickets available or their prices after you have added your first Band to the Band Roster.
This is so you cannot add tickets at a later date at increased prices.
Any questions, please contact the Host Support Team through the Action section.
Go to Action, click on your Host, go to Settings, click on ' Support'.
Here's the email you receive when new Studio, Manufacturer/Retailer, or VideoService (music video companies) accounts are approved:
Bands can spend their monthly Band Bonus money internally on services from businesses that sign up for one of these account types. Bands allocate some/all of their Band Bonus money to a particular business, and receive a code. After the service, or during checkout (using our Band Bonus API for e-commerce sites (Manufacturer/Retail accounts only)), they give the business their Band Bonus code. The business submits the code, and the money is transferred to them via Stripe. This helps alleviate some financial strain of making tunes outside the realm of corporate control.
The Band Bonus system takes 35% of the available money each month ((total Ticket Surcharge money plus all Advertising money, minus website costs) * 0.35) and divides it by the total number of LIR MUsicians that are in a Band account. If you are in more than one Band account, you must select which Band to allocate your monthly Band Bonus to. Any Band member with Band Bonus "Ability" (permission to access the Band's Band Bonus section) can spend the Band Bonus money, so make sure you keep things organized to ensure the money is spent according to everybody's views.

is now part of the Band Bonus system and can receive Band Bonus money (after you connect your Stripe account).
FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT:
In order to receive money from ticket sales, you must create a Stripe account that will be used to transfer the Band Bonus money to your bank. It’s very easy:
Go to Action (at the top), click your Studio account name, and go to the bottom where it says ‘Create Stripe Account’. It will take you to the Stripe account creation page. You can either use a pre-existing Stripe account if you have one, or create a new one.
Bands receive Band Bonus money every month, which is generated from the Ticket Surcharge and Advertising money collected that month.
We apply a Ticket Surcharge on every ticket sold by a Host, which is paid for by the ticket buyer.
Every month we take 35% of the Ticket Surcharge and Advertising money that is left over after site expenses, and divide it evenly between all the musicians on the site.
After they allocate some (or all) of their Band Bonus money to a business, they receive a code.
After the band has received the business’ product or service, they give the business their code. The business then enters the code through their Live Industry Radio account, and the Band Bonus money is transferred to them through Stripe. So the Band Bonus code is similar to a discount code, helping to alleviate the financial stress Bands often face while trying to create their Art.
To submit a band’s code, and transfer the money to your account:
Go to Action (at the top)
Click your Studio name
Go to the ‘Submit Band Bonus code’
Enter code
Any questions, please contact Support through the Action section: Go to Action, click on your Studio, go to Settings, click on ' Support'.
Questions? Here's info on how to access Support:
If you are in an additional account other than a Fan account, the user account everybody gets, direct any questions to that account type's Support Team found in the account's Settings in Action. I.e., Band, Host, Studio, Manufacturer/Retailer, and VideoService accounts all have their own Support, accessed through the Settings of that account in Action.
Otherwise, please direct questions to Support through your Fan account (Action / Fan / Settings). You can also write to support@liveindustryradio.com, or come visit me (check the 'Dead Industry Radio Host' Booked Gigs schedule to see which event we're at in the evening).
An independent self-sustaining music industry:
STREAM ALL MUSIC FOR FREE, UNINTERRUPTED.
Find bands you like everywhere on our site, and subscribe to them. Your Subscribed Bands tunes are then available in your Playlist section. Make unlimited Playlists with your Subscribed Band's music, and then stream your Playlists forever, uninterrupted, for free.
To get rid of all ads on our site, and/or to really support your Subscribed Bands (above and beyond what we pay them), you can Donate $0.005 (half a cent) per song stream of your Subscribed Band's music, which goes directly to the Musicians who wrote/own the songs without any deductions. Requires a $50 deposit which is automatically topped up every month, and you can also cancel at any time and refund your remaining deposit money. To start Donating to the Musicians who own your Subscribed Band's Songs, go to the Donate section of your Fan account in Action. This gets rid of all Ads on the site; otherwise, streaming all music is free.
Money from Advertising also goes to our Musicians, please see below.
SELL TICKETS.
Anybody organizing a live-music event can apply for a free Host account, in order to sell live-music event tickets through our platform. You can do this in the Action section under 'Accounts'. Getting people out to your shows is one of the core (free) functions of this platform, since it allows us to pay our Musicians for their song streams every month outside the royalty system, while also allowing everybody to stream their music for free. Our platform is designed around having people easily find and buy tickets to your shows. You will also be able to easily find bands to play at your Host Public Events, if you are still looking for bands to play, as Bands can search the Map for Host Public Events that are still need Bands, and apply to play at them. This way Bands can easily plan out their cross-country tours.
Live-music event tickets can only be sold for the Host 'Public Events' (Host Public Event this is what we call a live show). All other account types can only make Private Events, for coordination purposes. Making Public and Private Events is done through the Scheduler.
You need at least one Live Industry Radio band signed up to play your Host Public Event before you can start selling tickets for that gig (even if you set a Ticket Release Date/Time). Our mobile Host Door app scans tickets, and takes payments at the door, which is done using Stripe. All Live Industry Radio Host events must be no-cash events. I.e., you cannot EVER take cash at the door for events hosted through Live Industry Radio. This is so the Ticket Surcharge money (see below) can enter our system and be used to pay the Musicians on our site. Also, all entrances must be controlled where tickets are scanned with the app (nobody gets in for free). We may check your events randomly in person to ensure you are following these rules. Not following these rules would be taking advantage of our system to the disadvantage of our Musicians, and a violation of our Terms of Use.
We have other regulations, such as in inability to adjust ticket prices, or the number of available tickets, after the first Band is booked (to protect against corporate ticket scams), the inability for a credit card to be used more than once per Host Public Event, the inability for a Fan to make more than one transaction per Host Public Event, and the inability for a Fan to purchase more than 15 tickets per Host Public Event transaction (to protect against scalpers).
Fans can easily refund their tickets prior to the event (in case the band line-up drastically changes prior to the show), and Fans can refund their un-scanned tickets for one week after the event.
We transfer the Host Public Event ticket sales money one week after the completion of the event. Fans can Report Hosts through the Host page, if they violate our Term of Use or the law, or are a scam. We may postpone the transfer of ticket sales money if the event is a scam, as per our Terms of Use.
You must adhere to our Terms of Use when operating a Host account and putting on Host Public Events, as well as all local/provincial/federal laws relating to your events. We send detailed guidelines on Hosting events through our platform upon approval of your new Host account.
WE PAY MUSICIANS FOR THEIR SONG STREAMS IN OUR OWN VERSION OF THE ROYALTY SYSTEM.
We put a small 'Ticket Surcharge' on every ticket sold on our platform, that is paid for by the ticket buyers. This Ticket Surcharge money, together with all advertising money (after site expenses), goes to the Musicians on our site for their song streams, and also helps them to make purchases so they can record their tunes.
Each month, we divide the ticket/advertising money between two systems that pays Musicians - one system pays for their song streams that month (Pay Per Play system), the other gives them money they can spend internally on products and services of industry businesses (Band Bonus system).
How much we pay out to Musicians for their song streams is dependent on how many tickets and advertising sold that month. The amount a song stream is worth each month is variable, depending on the number of tickets and advertising sold that month. So please sell all your tickets through LIR from now on, so our Musicians can make more per song stream each month.
Each month we take the available money and divide it by our two systems that we use to pay our Musicians.
For example, how much each song stream is worth each month in our Play Per Play system is calculated by dividing the allocated ticket/advertising money made that month by the total # of song streams that month, in order to determine how much each song stream is worth that month.
Calculation: Pay Per Play (PPP) system (the amount each song stream is worth at the end of each month), which currently uses 65% of ticket/advertising money collected that month, after site expenses:
So if there's $10 000 available in the PPP system at the end of the month, and 1 million song streams that month, then each song stream would be worth $0.01 that month (example).
Calculation: Band Bonus system (the amount of money each musician receives at the end of each month to spend internally on products and services of music industry businesses that sign up to our platform), which currently uses 35% of ticket/advertising money colled that month, after site expenses:
total number of musicians that are members of a Band account on the site that month
= how much Band Bonus money each musician who is in a band receives that month
So if there is $10 000 available in the Band Bonus system at the end of the month, and 1000 Musicians who are members of a Band account that month, then each Musician in a Band account would receive $10 (example). Musicians who are in more than one Band account select which Band account is to receive their Band Bonus money. All the Band Bonus money from the different Band members is added together and accumulates each month. Bands can spend it on the various businesses that sign up, or save it each month for bigger purchases.
See the last section below for more Band Bonus info.
We reserve the right to adjust these formulas as our platform evolves, but as per our company policies, all changes must be to the benefit of our users and humanity in general.
Check out the Finance section for current and previous numbers. The 'Site Expenses' will be thoroughly documented, and may represent investments into future changes I believe will also be beneficial, but Musicians are our top priority. I was a musician from the age of 7 to 35 before quitting music in order to focus on replacing the music industry.
... once this site is going I'll resume music again.
The more tickets and advertising sold per month, the more musicians can make per song stream that month. There will never be a cap musicians can make per song stream. So please only buy live-music event tickets through live industry radio from now on so musicians here can make more per song stream on our platform every month.
As long as tickets are being sold through this platform, Musicians get paid for their Song streams by divvying up the reward of everybody also using this site to buy/sell tickets, and the Fans get to stream their tunes for free. This is a sufficient way to satisfy all deserving parties involved in music.
MUSICIANS, GET PAID FOR YOUR SONG STREAMS IN OUR OWN VERSION OF THE ROYALTY SYSTEM.
Musicians, to get paid for song streams each month, you must apply for a Musician account. You can do so in the Action modal. After you're a Musician, if a Band lists you as a Song Creditor to receive a % of the stream month for a song they upload, you get paid for your % of the song stream money at the end of each month through Stripe.
Once approved as Musician you can also create yourself a Band account, and upload music (or join another Band account). Only Band accounts can upload music.
At this time, only those approved as a Musician can create a Band account. Once a Band account is made, anybody can be invited to join it (tech, drivers, crew, relatives, girlfriend/boyfriend etc.). There's also an Affiliate Band member, where people can join as honorary members, so they can partake in the private Band chat, but not access any of the other Band functions.
You can give Band members certain 'Abilities' which allow or restrict them from performing various functions inside the Band account. This way, you can restrict crew members from access the Song Uploading function etc.
When Bands upload music, everybody who is to get paid for the song streams must have a Musician account on our site, and must be listed as a 'Song Creditor' for that song. A Song Creditor is somebody who is to receive a % of money for the song's song streams. Song Creditors (and the percentage they are to receive) get listed as part of the song upload process when a Band uploads a Song. Only Musicians can get paid for Song streams, so apply for a Musician account if you own songs that Bands are going to upload, so you can get paid for their streams.
During the upload process, all Song Creditors listed to receive money for that song's streams receive an Update and email, in which they must approve the Song Creditor list and the allocated percentages all Song Creditors are to receive for that song's streams. If all Song Creditors approve, then the song upload can complete, and the song is then available in the Band's repertoire.
Once the Song is in the Band's repitoire, when people Subscribe the Band, the Song (and all other Songs the Band has uploaded) becomes available in their Playlist section, to make unlimited Playlists with and stream for free, forever, uninterrupted.
If the Song Creditor list changes after the Song is already uploaded (new Song Creditors are added and/or different percentages are allocated), then the changes must first be approved by all previous Song Creditors, in the same approval process (an Update is sent to the Fan account of all previous Song Creditors for their approval).
REPRESENT YOUR BAND WITH YOUR LATEST HIT SINGLE.
Bands, don't forget to mark one of your uploaded tunes as your 'Single', which people can listen to instantly anywhere your Band is listed on our platform. This is handy when people go to check out the Bands that are playing at Host Public Events, or in the Charts section, or on chat walls (it shows what people are listening to whenever they post). Also Fan, Band, and Host calendars (inside the 'Show Booked Gigs' on their pages), top played Songs/Bands on Fan pages, Band page 'Play Single' etc.
Fans have a 'New Singles' section at the top of their Playlist section, that shows new Singles uploaded by Bands within the past 2 days.
The Singles count in the Charts resets every Saturday night at midnight, so maybe change your Single on Saturday night before midnight.
SIGN YOUR MUSIC INDUSTRY BUSINESS UP.
Recording studios (Studio account), audio hardware/software manufacturers/retailers (Manufacturer/Retailer account), and music video making businesses (VideoService account) can sign up for their respective accounts in the Action section (Action / Fan / Accounts). Businesses who sign up are available for when Bands go to select a business to spend their monthly Band Bonus money on.
When bands allocate some or all of their Band Bonus money to a business, they receive a code. After receiving the product or service from the business, the band gives the business the code. The business submits the code through their Live Industry Radio account, and the Band Bonus money is transferred into the business' Stripe account. This way the Band Bonus code acts like a discount code, subtracted from the total cost of the product/service. The Band Bonus API is also available for the Manufacturer/Retailer account type, in order to put a Band Bonus widget on their checkout page, so Bands can use their Band Bonus money when making purchases online. Studio and VideoService account types will most likely be accepting payments in person.
Live Industry Radio Mission Statement:
From site creator Dave Thomson:
... Well, I spent 24 years in the basement beside the furnace practising and recording music, and then, after I quit music, I spent another 10 years in the basement working towards replacing the music industry in its entirety, for spite. This website is the result.
While it might seem like a waste to have spent so much time toiling away in a basement, please allow me to disclose the biggest realization I’ve had so far:
Time spent in the honest pursuit of a skill or a study, done in isolation over a prolonged period of time, which may or may not involve hand eye coordination, is a heightened level of meditation. A heightened level of meditation is the pursuit of an Art or a Science, a study, or any other form of mastery, such as Martial Arts etc. - some skill perfected in isolation over an extended period of time.
Applying a heightened level of meditation over years, while honestly perfecting or pursuing a skill or study, will eventually bring a higher level of thought. Another level of mentality, etc.
It would seem that, for an Artist or Scientist, or anybody honestly pursing the perfection of a skill or study in isolation, the first half of the journey is spent in the pursuit of mastery, the fine tuning of skills or advancement in study, through which eventually, over a prolonged period of time spend in isolated heightened meditation, a higher level of thought is acquired. Once acquired, we are then able to recognize and acknowledge our place in the world, and can perceive what we must do with our mastered skills or studies for the benefit of humanity. So the second half of the journey is spent using our mastered skills or studies, as required to help or better humanity, whether it be humanity in the present, or humanity at some point in the future.
To pursue a skill or study honestly is to be able to apply the whole being towards the effort. A dishonest pursuit is always holding something back, the whole being is not applied, and thus it doesn’t allow for the same advancements. This is why good triumphs. To do good is to advance your being far beyond the benefit any petty acquisitions you might be able to acquire dishonestly. A dishonest effort will always be weak at the core compared to those pursuing skills or studies honestly.
This is why I do not consider the first half of my life a waste, as I was able to strengthen and condition my mind during my pursuit of mastery, which allowed me to recognize my place and duty to humanity, so that I can now apply myself to accomplish what is needed for the benefit of humanity, today and in the future.
Thus, I have learned that we should always stay true to our Art, or our pursuit of Science or skill, no matter what, as it is the doorway to a higher level of being, through which our true purpose is realized and our ability to perform our true purpose is achieved. This is why I'll return to music after I've finished this website.
Based on all this, here is some even more good news, kids: You don't have to make it big today. You just have to keep on making Art. That's all that matters. I've created this system so that your Art can be eternally protected, so it will be available in the future, WHEN IT IS NEEDED. If it is not needed today, don't worry; perhaps you have acquired the insight to make Art for people at a later time, and this is good. Regardless, continuing your pursuit, no matter what, is strengthening your mind, and allowing you to access another level in life, so please carry on.
In my opinion, when you are choosing your skill or study, I consider Art to be as important as Science, because Art is a means of communicating our various perceptions of the world to others. It is a means of assistance or guidance, through which others can benefit or find strength. Art binds a people. Such is the power of Art that it is usually attacked or blocked by oppressors or tyrants, first thing, as a means of curbing or subduing humanity to their will.
In my opinion, any Art recorded in digital format is vulnerable, and is easily susceptible to modification or deletion. This is unfortunate, given how important Art is to humanity. This is why my site will eventually be a digital fortress, designed to eternally protect any and all honest works of Art recorded in digital format from future oppressors or tyrants. This will be done through a security system called the Digital Mona Lisa (DML) Security Protocol. The great lengths we have previously taken to protect the ancient Artworks of past geniuses must be carried on today, through the digital age, for the benefit of those in the future. There are those in the future who will benefit from the Art that is uploaded here, protected for all of time.
This is the mission of Live Industry Radio.
Here are some rules I live by:
I will strive for a burden-free life for all.
I will strive to always have a fun time, no matter what. If something is ruining my fun time, I will observe my emotion, and dismiss it, so that my fun time may resume. If I encounter a persistent situation, perhaps with varying intensity, in which I cannot dismiss my emotion, resulting in drama, I will devise a system to completely bypass the situation, so that it is not feasible for my fun time to be ruined thereafter.
I will strive to not cause inconvenience, discomfort, or belittlement to others, so as to not ruin their fun time. I will especially not take pleasure in the inconvenience, discomfort, or belittlement of others, because this would mean I am a human parasite, feasting off of the pain and suffering of others, instead of allowing them to have a fun time. If I encounter a human parasite, who obviously would take pleasure in my pain and suffering, I will offer them bread and wine to eat, or other party food available at the fun party in which I am permanently partaking, as a substitute for my pain and suffering that they would otherwise enjoy eating. I will party and have fun, no matter how much pain and suffering the human parasites would have me endure, so that the human parasites will always be hungry.
I will always have a contingency plan for every course of action, so that my fun time is not ruined when my plans fail. Contingency plans might be needed for ruined plans caused by general delay, miscommunication, technical issues, delay in response, misplacement, forgetting, or unavailability.
I will have, maintain, and enforce, checklists for every critical and non-critical systematic routine in which my systems are dependent, at every checkpoint level, so that human error has no possibility of causing system routines to fail, and so we can better pinpoint areas in which sabotage might be a possibility.
I will keep track of the performance of the units and personnel, through the System Rating system, to better pinpoint areas in which sabotage might be a possibility.
I will strive to perfect an Artform, skill, or a study, throughout the entirety of my life, so that I might acquire a higher intelligence, through which prophecy is possible.
I will protect, at all costs, systems devised to share, distribute, or pass on the works and results of Artforms, skills, and studies, and the prophecies therein that may result from the pursuit of these Artforms, skills and studies, which may be recorded in various formats, including digital, to help those in the future. We must protect works and results of Artforms, skills and studies, and their prophesies, so that possible future oppressors and tyrants may not control, curb or destroy human creativity and ambition for their own benefit.
I will strive to protect the system of Live Industry Radio, so that the digital prophesies through the works of Art uploaded to our system might be passed on unaltered, indefinitely, throughout all of time.

Live Industry Radio Policies
General Policies
All personal and sensitive information collected by Live Industry Radio and its LIR Host Door app will not be shared with third parties. It will only be used for dedicated website and app services, and their improvement. Live Industry Radio and its LIR Host Door app will never publicly disclose any personal or sensitive user data related to financial or payment activities, as per our Terms of Use.
We use cookies to improve your Live Industry Radio experience. Data collected by Live Industry Radio cookies will not be shared with 3rd parties, nor will it be used in any way by Live Industry Radio outside of our website's dedicated services and its improvement.
Ticket Policies
There are two types of events on Live Industry Radio - 'Open Door' events and 'Closed Door' events.
Open Door events have only one ticket charge (General Admission or the cover charge etc.). These types of events generally do not have dedicated seating, so the number of tickets available should be based on the maximum capacity of the venue.
Closed Door events can have multiple ticket charges, and the number of tickets available for each ticket charge will be limited, due to seating arrangements etc.
Ticket Refund Policies: Ticket sales for both types of events are final, but if a Critical Change happens to an event, some tickets may become available for refund. These rules affect both event types:
1) If a band is dropped by the Host or cancels, all tickets purchased after that band originally joined the event become refundable. Tickets purchased before the band joined remain final sale. New tickets purchased after the cancellation are also final sale unless another qualifying change occurs. Live Industry Radio reserves the right to postpone the ticket money transfer to Hosts (which normally happens on the 7th day after the event) and apply other protective measures for the benefit of Fans, as per our Terms of Use.
2) If a Host changes the Public Event date, or the location of the event, or postpones the event (temporarily removes the event date), then all previously bought tickets are made available for refund. Tickets bought after the event change will be final sale per usual (not be available for refund), unless another similar change occurs. Tickets available for refund can be refunded at any time prior to the event, and for six days after the event (if not scanned at the event to access the event), up until the ticket sales money is transferred to the Host on the seventh day after the event. Tickets that are available for refund can still be used to access the event normally (you can still use tickets to go to the event even though they are available for refund). If the event is cancelled, then all tickets are refunded automatically. Updates via email will be sent to all ticket buyers after any changes to an event are made that renders tickets available for refund, such as a band cancel, location change or date change. An email will also be sent to ticket buyers when new Bands are added to the event (which does not make any tickets refundable).
Host Policies
A free 'Host' account is available for anybody who runs a live-music venue or does live-music event planning etc. Once acquired, a Host account can create Public Events, which are live-music events, and can sell tickets to them.
To protect Fans from scalpers and corporate ticket scams, the following policies are currently in place regarding Host Public Events and their tickets:
When a Public Event is created by a Host, after the first Live Industry Radio Band joins the 'Band Roster' (i.e., after a Band is accepted by the Host to play the event), the ticket prices and number of available tickets for the event can no longer be changed. If you see Host Public Event tickets on sale on Live Industry Radio, there is at least one Live Industry Radio band booked to play the gig, and the ticket prices and the number of tickets available are final (cannot ever be changed). This is true of both Open and Closed Door events. Hosts need at least one Band on a Public Event's Band Roster before the Public Event can start selling tickets on this platform. If all bands are removed from an event by the Host or cancels from the event, the Host Public Event can no longer sell tickets.
All Host Public Events hosted through Live Industry Radio must strictly be No Cash events. Cash cannot be accepted at the door for people without tickets. People without tickets must buy their tickets either through their Live Industry Radio account prior to the event, or through the LIR Host Door app (ticket scanning mobile app) when at the door of the event. This is because Ticket Surcharge money from every ticket sold funds payments to Musicians for their song streams. This allows Fans like yourself to listen to all of their tunes for free on this site, unlimited and uninterrupted. Ticket Surcharge money can only be entered into our system to pay our Musicians for their song streams if all tickets are paid for with a card, either through our site or through our ticket scanning app at the door of the event. Hosts who violate this rule are abusing our system at the expense of our Musicians, and warnings and penalties may apply as per our Terms of Use. Please take a picture and report Hosts accepting cash at the door of their Host Public Event. You can report Hosts through the Host's public account page. We may also frequent Host Public Events to check setups, either officially or incognito.
All Host Public Events must have controlled entrances in which tickets are scanned for entry. Allowing people to enter into a Host Public Event without a ticket is a violation of our Terms of Use, and warnings and penalties may apply. Even if the event is free, if the event is hosted through Live Industry Radio people must still pay the Ticket Surcharge amount (and the transaction fee and taxes) to get into the event.
Fans can only purchase tickets once per event, with a maximum of 15 tickets per purchase, and credit cards can only be used once per event. While possibly inconvenient, this is how we discourage scalping. Fans may receive a token of appreciation at major "Live Industry Radio Network" festivals and events (this is Live Industry Radio's Host account) for matching their ticket(s) with an ID at the entrance. This would also be valid for everyone arriving in a group, and the person who bought the group's tickets is in the group, with an ID with the same name as that on the tickets.
Donate
Live Industry Radio is free to everybody, and you can stream as many songs as you like. However, some of us are pretty passionate about our music, and like to support our favorite musicians in any way possible. That is why we offer the option to Donate to your Subscribed Bands, which means for every song you listen to in your Playlist (which is composed of all your Subscribed Band’s music), you give the musicians who wrote the Song half a cent. This money goes directly to the musicians. The royalty system currently would give them 9 percent of a cent, so Donating represents over a 500 percent increase in income. Once you start Donating, we remove all ads from the site for you in appreciation!
If you decide to Donate, you must first submit a deposit of $50. You are then charged at the end of the month for the number of songs you listened to. If your card fails, we remove the money from your deposit. You can find the Donation section in the Action modal, under your Fan account.
Account
If you need Bands to play at your event, or have an Event that features live music, apply for a Host account. Then you can make an Event that Fans can find on the Map, and buy tickets to. If you need Bands to play at your Event, your Event will be available on the Map for Bands to find as well, and apply to play at! You can sell tickets and have your Event automatically advertised on the Map, and in every public Scheduler of Bands that you’ve booked to play. Your Event can also be seen on the Public Scheduler of Fans that you’ve sold tickets to.
We encourage EVERYBODY to create a Host account, and start making Host Public Events. Start booking bands and selling tickets to your Event, because we apply a small surcharge on the tickets sold, which is money that get split evenly between all the Bands to be used for products and services that allow them to make their music. Book some Bands and sell tickets for your weekend back-40 BBQ, or your kids next house party! (Please make sure you read our EULA before creating a Host Public Event).
Since nobody appreciates scalpers, we limit the amount of ticket sales per transaction to 15, we only allow one transaction per credit card per event, and we print the name of the Fan who bought the tickets on the tickets. We encourage Hosts to ask to see the buying Fan’s ID with every group entering your event, and threaten to turn away those who do not have matching ID. Eventually, we can all help make scalping a thing of the past.
Events
Once you have a Host account, you can create Host Public Events. Fans can search for Host Public Events on the Map, using date, type, and genre filters. They can also buy tickets for them through the Map, or through the Public Schedulers of Bands booked to play at the gig, or through the Public Schedulers of Fans who have bought tickets for your gig.
We apply a ticket surcharge on every ticket sold, that is used to pay for the site’s expenses. What is left over is split evenly between all the bands, to be spent on the products and services of industry related companies who have an account with us.
Pay Per Play System
The Pay Per Play system involves taking all of the generated Advertising income, and possibly some of the Ticket Surcharge money (a surcharge we add to every ticket sold through Live Industry Radio), and dividing it by the total number of Song plays on the site. The resulting number is how much each Song gets Per Play. This happens at the end of every month. So in one month, if there’s 1 million Song Plays, and $10 000 in Advertising/Ticket Surcharge money, then each song would receive one cent. This money goes to the Musicians that are listed as Song Creditors (royalty receivers), according to the percentage they are to receive.
You can head to the Finance department to see what the previous Pay Per Play amount was, and to check out this month’s numbers. It’s found in the drop down menu at the right of the top toolbar.
We are currently striving for half a cent Per Play, which would represent a 500 percent increase in revenue for musicians from the current royalty system. However, achieving this goal is largely dependent on the amount of tickets sold, and the amount of advertising that happens, so lets all make an effort to get this site happening :)
LIR Sponsorship Opportunities
Live Industry Radio: Reducing Costs to Accelerate Our Own Self-Sustaining Version of the Music Industry
To pay musicians more per song stream each month
Live Industry Radio is a platform designed to help musicians earn alternative income outside of the traditional music industry. We use a custom royalty system that pays artists monthly based on platform revenue from ticket sales and advertising. See "How it Works" and "Finance" for details.
Why We Need Our Own CDN
To maximize artist payouts, we plan to operate our own CDN (Content Delivery Network). A CDN is like a distribution system for digital content, similar to how physical products are distributed through warehouses and local delivery. Example description:
When you purchase a garden rake in Vancouver that is manufactured in Toronto, a single rake is not sent all the way from Toronto to your house.
The garden rake factory ships lots of rakes to warehouses in different areas, so that when people order a rake, it comes from that closer warehouse, quickly and reliably.
A CDN works the same, just with data. Data is pre-sent to servers in different areas, so people close by to the remote servers (nodes) can get it quickly and reliably.
Our CDN infrastructure will scale with our geographic expansion. Before launching in a new country, we will deploy a CDN node in that region’s headquarters.
Our Current Status
Corp Level 1: We currently pay third-party global CDN fees to operate solely within Canada. These extra costs reduce the pool available at the end of each month in our custom royalty system designed to help musicians.
Corp Level 2: Once we deploy our first CDN node, we eliminate external bandwidth fees. These savings will go directly into our Pay Per Play system, increasing monthly payouts to musicians.
Example costs for initial node:
Server rack & enclosure: $1,500
Edge servers (x3): $12,000
Network hardware & backup: $3,400
Cooling, security, cabling: $3,500
8 Gbps fiber line (business-grade): $2,500

We are currently working towards Corp Level 2 by initiating the Toronto Artist Fund concert series and other live shows in which the standard Ticket Surcharge is applied. The Ticket Surcharge helps Live Industry Radio expand, as well as pays musicians for their song streams on the platform each month.
Corp Level 3: At national scale, we’ll migrate to a dedicated data center. This enables full bandwidth independence within Canada. By Level 3 our platform will be fully updated with the scalability required to initiate all other Art industries into the platform, and we will begin to expand into all other countries systematically.
This Is A Good Opportunity For Change
